Teesside International Airport

At Aircon Group, we are set to roll out our new locally developed revolutionary sanitiser at Teesside Airport’s terminal, which is certified to kill all types of bacteria and neutralise viruses, including coronavirus.

Typically specialists in refrigeration, air conditioning, and heating services; we have now gone one step further and developed a water-based, pH-neutral sanitiser named AirSafe. The sanitiser effectively executes 99.9% of enveloped viruses in the space of just one minute.

Over the last 18 months, we have carried out over 2,500 tests to ensure that AirSafe is the most effective sanitiser of its kind and is 100% safe for use.

We have worked with Teesside International for almost 30 years, however, this is our latest partnership. This comes after the firm received a £13,255 business growth grant via Tees Valley Business Growth Fund.

Following this, the airport has undergone a recent development, in which the firm supplied and installed new air conditioning, fire dampers, ductwork, and extractor fans across the buildings, as well as some other improvements.

Following a deep clean of Teesside Airport’s air conditioning system, AirSafe was sprayed inside to sanitise the air that passes through. This application will continue for up to six months to keep all airport staff and passengers safe in the terminal.

Ben Houchen, Tees Valley Mayor, said: “It’s fantastic that we can work with Aircon Group, a brilliant local business that has a longstanding relationship with Teesside Airport, to bring this game-changing technology into our terminal for the wellbeing of local people and staff.

“As rules on international travel continue to be relaxed and more and more people from across Teesside, Darlington and Hartlepool are using our airport for their well-deserved holiday breaks, we need to ensure we’re doing all we can to keep people using our terminal healthy and give them the confidence to travel once again.

“AirSafe will do just that, and shows our region is once again at the forefront of innovation, with companies offering their expertise and doing all they can to combat coronavirus.”

Steve, Farrell, Aircon Group Managing Director, said: “We’ve been a firm believer in Teesside Airport for decades now, and we were delighted when we learned that it was going to be brought back into public hands.

“We’re even more pleased to continue to be part of the airport’s story, helping its redevelopment and introducing this revolutionary new sanitising technology to help keep everyone who uses or works at the airport healthy, not just from Covid, but all other enveloped viruses too.

“We’ve been hard at work developing AirSafe for the past 18 months, and we’re really pleased at how much we’ve achieved. We’re looking now at rolling it out with other organisations to protect as many people as possible.

“With the introduction and adoption of AirSafe we are looking to recruit experienced engineers in our Thornaby branch and we are seeking an apprentice who will have the opportunity to learn from our experienced engineers who enjoy sharing their skills and knowledge with younger members of staff.”
